- Patient falls are responsible for 95% of hip fractures
What products prevent falls and support recovery?
Ambulation Devices
Individuals with higher levels of mobility often benefit from a non-powered sit-to-stand device like the Vista 400. This product allows an individual to pull themselves up to a standing position from a bed, chair or toilet. Its removable footplate enables the user to walk with the device like a walker. Padded seats can be easily engaged to support an individual who becomes tired or needs to rest while ambulating. Acute and post-acute care units report an 81% reduction in patient falls as a result of implementing the Vista 400 alone.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy facilities can also prevent falls and injuries while simultaneously supporting ambulation and mobility. Ceiling lifts can be placed above steps or treadmills, and provide full protection for patients. Strategically placed tracks can also be used in conjunction with walking pants or walking slings during gait training.
In the Home
Low-cost solutions like properly placed grab bars and poles can help our loved ones stay in their homes longer. The risk of hip fractures can be reduced by an innovative new product that has two airbags inside of it that deploys in the act of a fall. Non-powered sit-to-stands and ceiling lifts can assist with transfers and can also provide a safer environment.
Fall Recovery
The Raizer is the ultimate fall recovery product. This portable device is quickly and easily assembled around the fallen individual and brings them back to a sitting or standing position with the push of a button. Most notably, this product requires zero physical exertion by caregivers.
Education is Everything
Falls pose an undeniable and universal threat in both home and healthcare settings. Our loved ones and ourselves are all at risk as we age. Being educated on what products are out there and what we can do to prevent injury is the first step toward engineering falls out of our lives.
